What’s not to like about the new iPhone 5S? A fingerprint reader that even reads your cat’s paws, a new A7 chip that makes the gorgeous iOS 7 run faster than the old versions on your old iPhone and an even slicker design. And how about that iPhone 5C with its vibrant colors and neat cases that come with it?
Of course you want to upgrade to one of these, and nowadays you luckily don’t have to worry too much about losing much money on your “old” iPhone. The value of used iPhones is always subject to the prevailing market supply/demand conditions – so to get right ahead of the pack, you needed to sell yesterday, or even before. This means you now need to shop around for the best value deals. There are a number of iPhone trade-in programs, each wit hits pros and cons. Let’s take a look at a few of the best ones.
Gazelle.com lets you sell any of your Apple devices and other electronics for cash in hands. The site first asks for on-screen confirmation of your iPhone model details. Next you grade your phone as good, flawless or broken, before receiving an instant offer to purchase. Gazelle offer a new price lock-in for iPhones if the sale is agreed before October 31st. This would allow you time to take delivery of your new phone before then sending off the old one to Gazelle for a check/PayPal settlement.
Cash buyers, uSell.com, offer a fast, safe and hassle-free service. On their site you just select your phone from those listed, identify the model and confirm the condition. uSell then present purchase offers for your phone from their buyer network. You can check feedback and reviews from previous sellers and then, if you’re happy, choose to accept an offer. You send off the iPhone, your buyer inspects and agrees the condition, then pays you by check/PayPal.
3. Verizon iPhone Trade-In Program
Verizon will take your old phone as a trade-in rather like an auto dealer. You identify the iPhone model, appraise the condition and receive an on-screen trade-in valuation. The offer stands for 30 days and, if you accept, Verizon will arrange free shipping and issue you with a credit receipt which can be used to purchase your new iPhone.
4. AT&T Trade-In Program
The AT&T trade-in service provides a search tool for you to identify and confirm your iPhone model details. You then assess the condition and receive a quoted trade-in value. As with Verizon above, this takes the form of a credit. To receive your credit, you print off your trade-in receipt and mailing label, then pack and ship off your iPhone, free of charge. When your AT&T promotion card arrives back you can use this credit against the purchase of a new iPhone.
5. Apple Store iPhone Trade-In Program
Apple’s own trade-in program lets you visit an Apple Retail Store to get a working, non-liquid damaged device evaluated. A few questions are asked to determine your iPhone’s condition before a trade-in value is proposed. It seems the figure could be a little below comparable figures on offer elsewhere in the market, but the convenience of doing an in-store deal could be a big advantage. When you agree a deal and complete the paperwork, the trade-in figure is credited to a gift card. The gift card balance can then be used to contribute towards your new iPhone purchase. The trade-in program specifically applies to customers wishing to purchase a new iPhone. It cannot be used just to add an extra balance to a gift card.
