Hold tight as the iPhone launches into a world of text, drugs and rock and roll. OK, maybe no the drugs part but the latest offering by Gameloft, Guitar Rock Tour, sets out to combine the latest craze in computer gaming with the iPhone’s cutting edge touch technology. Following in the footsteps of Guitar Hero and Rock Band this addictive application puts users’ digital dexterity to the test as they shred away to the music like a cross between Slash and Mozart. At £3.49/ $5 the application is at the upper end of the games ladder, however, the combination of smooth graphics, pumping acoustics and classic track list make the application excellent value. Hero of Sparta might not be able to emulate the Hollywood blockbuster 300 but by my reckoning it isn’t too far off (hence the 299). Hero of Sparta is like a cross between Streets of Rage and Tomb Raider. Your job is guide a Spartan hero through a 3D world of mythical beasts and demons, all of which have been sent to slice you into tiny pieces. The intermittent movie sequences and 3D world give the game its Tomb Raider feel and the developers have produced a world that well constructed with many realistic features. The flowing water and flags blowing in the breeze are a testament to the attention to detail and work that have gone into the graphics. Read the rest of this entry »

Gameloft has released the first in-game trailer of Hero of Sparta for iPhone and iPod Touch. The game was announced along with Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes about two weeks ago. This new trailer shows us that the 3D graphics look great in-game as well. Hero of Sparta takes you back to Ancient Greece in this colossal action game.

Just a couple of weeks ago there was a rumor that Gameloft was working on Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and soon after that we had the first details and footage of this stunning World War II title. The game contains 14 missions in 3 compaigns, namely Normandy, Ardennes and Tunisia. The game has great 3D graphics recreating the atmosphere of a real Hollywood WWII blockbuster. Players can drive 4×4 vehicule or a Sherman tank and use weapons like a sniper rifle, machine guns, a bazooka and many others. The accelerometer is being used to launch grenades, aiming at enemies needs to be done with via the touch-screen. Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes is now available in the App Store for $9.99.
Gameloft has released another cinematic trailer of its upcoming iPhone and iPod Touch game Ferrari GT Evolution. Just like in the other video, the game looks graphically stunning in the trailer. But don’t expect the game itself to be graphically this good. Ferrari GT Evolution is coming out in December.
A few days ago we reported that Gameloft is working on Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes for iPhone and iPod Touch. Today Gameloft released more information on the game and a video showing some neat footage of the game popped up on YouTube. You play as Jason Becker, a soldier of the 101st Airborne division. You’ll have to battle your way through Normandy, Ardennes and Tunisia in the fourteen missions of the game. The game combines objectives on foot with driving 4×4 vehicles and Sherman Tanks. Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes is due to come out in December this year.
Hero of Sparta for iPhone
According to The Guardian, Gameloft will release two big iPhone and iPod Touch games by the end of this year. The first title is Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes, a third-person WWI shooter with onfoot shoting and some driving action as well. The game uses a virtual D-pad for controlling your character in the game. The second game is Hero of Sparta, a 3D hack-n-slash game with an onscreen D-pad and contextual options to attack, defend, change weapons and so on.
The first football game to grace the iPhone is the latest in a long line of mobile only titles carrying the Real Football moniker and released as Real Soccer in the United States. Gameloft have already shown that as far as mobile gaming is concerned you can give the reigning champions FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer a good game, but as they grace the hallowed turf on the iPhone for the first time will they take an early lead in this new championship race?
